More severe storms could develop this evening

After busy Monday night with severe storms, more could be on the way Tuesday evening.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected again Tuesday evening and overnight. So the storms could once again produce damaging winds and hail.

Most of the afternoon highs will be in the 70s, but could range from the 60s in areas like Harlowton and Livingston, to the low 80s in Eastern Montana closer to the Dakotas.

Clouds will increase bringing a chance of strong to severe storms from the mountain foothills West of Billings to pretty much anywhere in Southeast Montana.

Much as we saw last night, storm cells will be smaller but pack a punch.

For Independence Day, highs will be in the 70s to low 80s with lots of sun. That is a little cooler than average.

A much warmer pattern is expected over the weekend, with Friday likely be the hottest day the area has seen so far in 2018. Highs well in the 90s to even triple digits possible.

Billings forecast:

Tuesday… Mostly sunny with isolated afternoon storms. High near 74.

Tuesday night… Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms during the evening through about midnight. Then gradually becoming mostly clear. A low of about 49.

Independence Day… Sunny with a high near 79.
